Queer Cinema presents: Autumn programme update + new collaborations
Hey wonderful LGBTQ+ community, queer family, friends, supporters & allies, We have joined forces with Newham Poetry group, an active community initiative. Find enclosed our updated programme. Three more sessions to go; one in October and two in November. Also, due to public demand and Lesflicks amazingness, we're holding another session on "Women loving women" on Saturday 2nd November; 40 participants were keen on meeting again soon to carry on exploring many of the topics that came up during our first session. We have a new venue, more chairs, extra cake and vegan gummies; what's not to like. |

Fantasies are the activity of imagining impossible or improbable things. Through these we can explore our identities and imagine a different world. Join our friendly and community centred session. Queer Cinema presents: Women loving women (curated by Lesflicks)
Whether we identify as lesbian, bisexual or queer women or as non-binary babes one thing unites us - the struggle to be visible, to be equal, to be ourselves and to see ourselves represented on screen. Occasionally we get to create a space where we are the majority and we can just be ourselves - today is one of those days! Join our friendly and community centred session. LesFlicks is a new organisation that aims to improve the knowledge of, and access to lesbian and bisexual films. Through social film clubs, video on demand, an extensive database, data collection and collaboration; LesFlicks aims to help invest in the past, present and future of lesbian film to make it as accessible as possible, no matter how you prefer to access it. Join our friendly and community centred session. Short films (40 minutes of shorts curated by QueerBee - rating 12A) + guest speakers + interactive discussions (joining is optional). Refreshments provided. QueerBee is a new platform for LGBTQI shorts, established to help queer filmmakers bring authentic queer stories directly to new audiences. Programme 1 explores ‘identity’; when we know ourselves to be something entirely different from the available models of gender, sexuality and love, our identities often take us into unmapped territories. Thanks to Echo's support we have launched Queer Cinema, a monthly screening of LGBTQ+ short films and documentaries with special guests and interactive discussions. Our first session takes place during February - LGBT History Month - on Saturday 23rd February, 4-7pm at Stratford Library. Theme: Queerness & Faith Guest speakers from different religions and beliefs - including secular people - will share their journey with faith and identity both in person and through short films.
